| Me? | |
| I’ve done a lot of things. Nothing world-shaking, but largely fun. | |
| I was privileged to earn a doctorate at Yale in philosophy, then taught the subject, briefly. | |
| Later I served as Director of Research Grants for the National Institutes of Health, then as a consultant to the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. | |
| In a moment of madness, I bought a 42-foot ketch-rigged sailboat, and lived aboard for more than three years, cruising from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas. | |
| In Fort Lauderdale, I played professional piano for quite a few years, principally in hotels, restaurants, and lounges. Sometimes solo, sometimes with a small jazz ensemble. [For anecdotes, see "Jazz Reminiscence" on my home page.] | |
| The magic of MIDI I discovered
about 1990, then later the wizardry of accompaniment programs, like Band-in-a-Box.
Like all of us who love good music, I attempted to describe its mysteries
and how to use it optimally. [See "Enhancing Midi Recordings"
at http://www.midistudio.com/Faculty/Enhancing.htm]. |
|
| In sum, as I sit here on Bainbridge Island, I enjoy seeing enthusiastic novices try MIDI-recording and strive to improve their musical creations. Me, too. | |
