To avoid download problems, the file "c51unimx" will be in .zip format. If you do not have a folder to save such files, it is suggested you create a folder on the C: drive named 'InstallCrescendo' and save to that location.  After saving, you will need to use WinZip to extract the file to the same folder.  Then click on c51unimx.exe and the Install process will begin. This version will install to either Netscape or Internet Explorer, or both if you have them installed.

CAUTIONS: During the installation process, there are several screens. On the first "Select Components" screen, uncheck "LiveSynth PLUS [TM]" as this is a very poor quality software synthesizer. 

On a later "Select Components" screen you will be shown two options for files you wish to have Crescendo play.  If you already have an MP3 player, such as WinAmp, it is suggested you uncheck "MPEG Audio Files [.mps, .m3u]" 

After installation, and when Crescendo is playing -- Click on the Stop button.  Click on Options then MIDI Devices.  Make sure LiveSynth is NOT selected.  Choose one of the other Synth options listed, which would include your soundcard.  If you have several choices, play each choice a little, then select another output device. (DO NOT select MIDI Out as this is for use with an external sythesizer only.) You will be able to hear which is the best choice.
